Join THE LOCAL LOTTO for a sustainable community celebration during Village Halls Week!
19 February 2024
Calling all community champions! Village Halls Week returns from 18 to 24 March, celebrating the heart and soul of rural England: the iconic village halls buzzing with life. This year, the theme is "Go Green!", emphasising sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives.
Village Halls Week is organised by ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England), a champion of rural communities nationwide. Since 2018, they've been highlighting the invaluable role village halls play in fostering connections, providing activities, and nurturing shared history. This year's green theme reflects an urgent need for sustainable practices, inspiring village halls to become more energy-efficient and minimise their environmental impact.
But here's the best part: you can be a part of the celebration AND make a real difference! THE LOCAL LOTTO isn't just about winning exciting prizes. It's about supporting local causes that bring our communities together – like Pateley Bridge & Bewerley Memorial Hall and Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall, two of the village halls that are raising funds through THE LOCAL LOTTO.
Pateley Bridge & Bewerley Memorial Hall: Preserving heritage, building futures
A place that has witnessed generations come together to celebrate, learn, and build memories - Pateley Bridge & Bewerley Memorial Hall is not just a venue; it's a symbol of community strength and resilience. Originally erected to honour fallen soldiers from World War One and Two, this village hall has evolved into a hub for diverse events – from school dinners to ballroom dances, movie screenings and wedding receptions to craft fairs. The diamond anniversary two years ago marked a testament to its enduring significance.
The Memorial Hall is ideal for dining or theatre style functions. It is home to Cinema In The Dale, a community cinema for Pateley Bridge and Upper Nidderdale.
With your support through THE LOCAL LOTTO, Pateley Bridge & Bewerley Memorial Hall is raising funds to maintain its rich traditions but also to expand its offerings, ensuring it remains a vibrant community space.

Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall: Nurturing community life, sustaining green initiatives
Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall is a hub of community life and green initiatives. From wedding receptions to art clubs, yoga sessions to film nights, it accommodates a diverse range of activities. Recently achieving a Grade 'B' energy performance, the hall exemplifies a commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility. The Hall Management Committee's efforts to upgrade the building have resulted in a space that not only supports a wide range of activities but also aligns with modern energy-saving standards.
With your contribution through THE LOCAL LOTTO, Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall can continue to support the vast array of activities that bring the local community together. Your participation directly helps to sustaining this remarkable space for the next 50 years.
