Support Dementia Forward through THE LOCAL LOTTO

Dementia Forward: Commitment to care and support

17 January 2024

At THE LOCAL LOTTO, we are committed to championing local causes that make a profound impact on our community. Today, we are delighted to shine a spotlight on Dementia Forward, North Yorkshire's leading dementia charity, providing unparalleled support, advice, and wellbeing services for individuals with dementia and their families.

Making a difference in the local community

Established in the former Harrogate District in 2012, Dementia Forward currently supports approximately 9,000 people across the area. Their experienced team offers vital assistance to those with a diagnosis, concerns about memory problems, or those caring for someone affected by dementia.

Dementia Forward is an essential source of information, advice, and support for the local community. The charity operates a helpline Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, ensuring that every voice is heard. Through their dedicated team of Dementia Support Advisors, they provide confidential advice and information, helping individuals to:

  • Understand dementia and navigate the future
  • Choose the best services and support for their needs
  • Stay connected to the local community through wellbeing services
  • Make informed decisions about care, treatment, and support needs

Supporting Dementia Forward through THE LOCAL LOTTO

By participating in THE LOCAL LOTTO, you directly contribute to Dementia Forward's mission. The funds raised through us not only allow them to continue their invaluable services, but also offer participants a chance to win fantastic prizes as a token of gratitude.

How funds are being used

So far, THE LOCAL LOTTO has helped raise funds that go directly into sustaining Dementia Forward's wellbeing services in the former Harrogate District. These weekly services, led by trained Dementia Support Advisors, become an integral part of individuals' routines, offering face-to-face support and a supportive community for those facing similar situations.

Your support in action

Through the funds raised, individuals living with dementia in the area continue to benefit from these crucial services and the profound impact is evident in the comments of those who have experienced firsthand the support provided by Dementia Forward:

"I feel like I was about to jump off a very tall building, but I have just been talked down."

"Music, singing, and dancing were the last things to stay with her. It was always a joy for me and my brother to see the pleasure she got from being with you."

How you can make a difference

Dementia Forward is working hard to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by dementia, but they need your support to ensure they never have to turn people away. Whether through a one-off donation, volunteering your time, or helping them raise funds through THE LOCAL LOTTO, your support will make a difference. Here is how you can help:
